How To Maintain Heavenly Bank Account

Mathew 6:20-21: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart be also.

Treasures are accumulated wealth stored for future use or for investment. The owner of a particular treasure keeps constant watch over it to avoid loss. The wealth accumulated here on earth may be stolen by armed bandits or destroyed by natural calamities. The owner may suffer set-backs as a result of the huge loss. Heaven is a secured place where no thief can break into, there are no natural calamities occuring in heaven. Any wealth stored in heaven is 100% secured. It is on this premise that our Lord Jesus Christ advised his disciples to lay up treasures in heaven instead of on this planet earth where treasures are prone to destruction or loss.

There are criteria for an individual on earth to lay treasures for himself in heaven. The person can give alms to the poor and the needy. It is through giving to the needy that Christ said that people saw him in need and ministred to him.

You can also donate to the building of the Church. This could be giving money for sponsoring of evangelical work, If you cannot go out for evangelism. You can give money to help in sending the people that are going. You can equally take care of the ministers of God. As you do all these, the kingdom of God in heaven will recognise your work and record them in your accounts in heaven. These works become refernce points in heaven whenever your matter comes up in heaven. Today, you can open a heavenly bank account by giving to the needy and the work of God. God will also begin to bless you in extra-ordinary way. (Story taken from The Lords's Chosen Devotional Guide".
